Studying Abroad
This topic is a bit random, but I have a question for you guys.
So I have a chance to go to different country to study abroad. I have the options of going for six weeks, a semester, or a full school year. I have to pay, of course, but they have options for me to help out with costs. My first pick of a country is Japan, and my second is Italy. My application is due by March and I'll depart in June or July.
If any of you were offered this chance, would you go? The idea of a new country is terrifying, but also exciting. It will be awful being 14 hours away from my family and friends but the experience would be amazing.

Re: Studying Abroad
Maybe someday if I feel comfortable enough to go alone without my family somewhere, but I may seem kinda close to home although I actually really enjoy going on vacation with my family as sometimes my concern is not being around people you know unless you meet people and that's not so easy for me.

Re: Studying Abroad
Do. It.
I haven't studied abroad (I wanted to do a month in Japan but the trip was cancelled on the school's end), but every single person I know of that has says to do it if you get the chance because it's such an amazing experience.

That's so cool!
I would like to live in London, England (: I'm a big-city type of girl and I love England, as I have a lot of relatives from there and I just love the culture there. (:

Re: Studying Abroad
Sammy: I'm the same way, but I think it'd be nice to take a risk and go without anyone I know.
Read: I've heard that as well! I have two friends from other countries who came to my school. One is from Brazil and the other is from Japan. They didn't seem to be nervous about being in another country.
Whitney: I love big cities as well! I would love to study in England, but unfortunately, it wasn't an option.

Re: Studying Abroad
This is an amazing opportunity. If it was me, I'd definitely go. It helps to build up your independence if you're not used to living away from family!
I'd love to go to somewhere like Italy or the US. In all honesty, I'd go anywhere that isn't London loool. Wherever you get the opportunity to go, please take pictures *and show me* hehe!!! :DD

Re: Studying Abroad
I've always dreamed of studying abroad and i would definitely accept the opportunity to go if situations are good at that time. I'd choose Japan if you were me--since it is relatively close to korea, which is where my family lives also and because i have more knowledge of that place than Italy.
I do know that living in a different country is terrifying, but I'd insist taking up the challenge nonetheless because life is short and we should enjoy it to the best of our abilities ^__^

Re: Studying Abroad
Thank you for your opinions on this~! I've made the decision and I will go if the money situation works out. I might do a semester or a full year because I don't feel like six weeks would be long enough for me to have the full experience and to learn the language.
I know basic Japanese but I know that it's best to learn by immersing yourself in the language rather than sitting in a classroom.

yeah it's definitely better to learn where you're able to really practice the language with other speakersGabby wrote:Thank you for your opinions on this~!
