Challenge 2: Anika's Arctic Angels
Heya guys!
Welcome to Challenge 2! For this challenge you will need to collaboratively come up with reasons why you love Christmas! So this challenge requires a bit of team work since you need to combine everyone's ideas together into however many words you wish. This challenge ends 22nd and the reasons will be judged and the points to the team whoever wins will be added to the scoreboard!
Good luck!

Re: Challenge 2: Anika's Arctic Angels
We could possibly do a story about spending time with loved ones? I know I love having time off to spend some quality time with my family members, doing holiday activities. (:

Re: Challenge 2: Anika's Arctic Angels
Thank you cx. I don't know if you'd like to do this, guys, but maybe whoever would like to contribute a piece of writing could do so, and we could vote on which piece to put forth in the challenge...?

Re: Challenge 2: Anika's Arctic Angels
We could do that, or we can somehow combine everyone's writing in a story or long poem? (:

Re: Challenge 2: Anika's Arctic Angels
I'm not exactly sure if this is good, but it took me a great deal of time, and I'm quite satisfied with it... aha, um I didn't really know if you meant to like collaborate in one big piece or just collaborate ideas by each posting a list of what we love about the season, so I just put forth my ideas and Evan's because he's the only one who put what he loves on here. So, I guess here goes nothing, enjoy..?
I stood next to the tree, admiring my work. The small, faux green tree sat on my desk, decorated in silver, red, and lime ornaments, along with several other homemade decorations and ornaments. Each wall was lined with one strand of yellowy, white colored icicle lights, as was the tree. A small, fragile nativity scene stood along the shelf that hung above my bed. A smile spreads across my face as I peak out the window and see the sidewalks gather another layer snow onto them. A ball of snow then hit the window, startling me for a moment, before I start to laugh, waving to the children running aimlessly around the street and their yard, trying to take cover from the snowball war. Then I felt the urge to make a hot cup of hot chocolate with a handful of warm almonds.
My journey to the kitchen took less then a minute, and before I knew it I was searching the cupboards for the hot chocolate mix and mini marshmallows. Once I had located the box, I pulled out one package and dumped it into a mug and added water, just before popping it into the microwave for one minute and fifteen seconds. As I waited I grabbed the tin of almonds sitting next to the coffee maker and a small bowl from the cabinet above. My hand grasped a handful of the almonds, though I felt a little greedy on the snowy day, so I grabbed another handful, tossing it into the bowl. Just then the microwave's beeping went off, signaling that my hot chocolate was ready. I grinned and jumped over to the contraption, quickly pulling out the drink and replacing it with the bowl of almonds. I threw in six mini marshmallows into the mug and ten seconds later, I had a nice bowl of warm almonds as well as a steaming cup of hot chocolate in hand. I taking a deep breath, I grabbed my favorite device, my phone, and a fuzzy blanket. I then made my way over to the recliner next to the fireplace, snuggling into the blanket and sipping my hot cocoa. I stopped and realized that I loved doing these activities the way I feel and that I don't have teachers at school bossing me around because of the delightful break that the schools let the students have. I sighed and locked my phone, letting my thoughts consume my mind. I remembered all the memories I had made during each holiday season.
From decorating the Christmas tree after Thanksgiving to writing my Christmas list for Santa. Even the little things like the several hinting on what I wanted next year and playing all day long or sleeping in late, which is always appreciated. Some memories oddly involved my elementary school Christmas parties, like the DIY holiday decorations and the Secret Santas. But, most importantly, the images flashed in my mind of all the memories made with my family members throughout the years I had been alive. All the Christmas mornings spent unwrapping presents, all the time thinking about what to get for who or what to make for my parents, and all the excited looks and smiles shared around the time. Christmas has always meant so much, to so many people, yet so many of those people focus on the gifts and the giving aspects of the holidays. However, I believe that the look on people's faces, the complete and utter joy of the season is what I enjoy most about it.
