The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries is a TV show on the network CW. The show is based off a book series by L.J. Smith.

The book series, with the same name, has a total of 13 novels. Its story centers on Elena Gilbert, a young high school girl who finds her heart eventually torn between two vampire brothers, Stefan and Damon Salvatore.

The TV show, however, is a drama that details the lives of two brothers, Damon and Stefan Salvatore, who have been living as vampires for centuries. After years of moving from from place-to-place to hide their eternal youth, the brothers return to the small Virginia town, Mystic Falls, where their lives as humans ended. Damon is snarky, handsome and charming, with a propensity for evil, while Stefan tries to remain noble -- in part to atone for bad behavior in his past. It also follows the life of Elena Gilbert with the two brothers by her side.
