Im starting Y9 (8th Grade) Any tips?

Im a little worried even though i know im staying in top set... but since my friend situation is a little.... ermmmmm.... wierd, im really worried since everyone has all their little groups! any tips for Y9 (8th Grade)???

I'm not sure I can give any good tips, due to the fact that my friend situation is never really that good. If your friends are being mean, find new friends.

Make sure your grades come first, year 9 is an important year to make a good impression to your option teachers that's you'll have until the end of year 11(in my case anyway) keep your head down and try your hardest!! And your friend situation will sort itself out and it's always a great opportunity to meet new people <33

Well, I've done my time in year 9 {and miraculously survived!!!} and I'll give you some advice.

- GCSE's are NOT the be-all and end-all. Teachers put a lot of emphasise on GCSE's because they're important and they're right to do so. However, I know now that I shouldn't have got so stressed over them and that my A-levels are certainly more important and will be the things most universities look at. That's not to say don't bother revising - CERTAINLY DO REVISE! Just don't get too stressed over them

- Make the most of every opportunity. If you get offered to go on career-related trips or things related to a field you might like to work in then GOOOO FOR ITTTTT!!! These opportunities are rare and don't come along very often.

- BE HAPPY. It's difficult to maintain a positive outlook, especially during exam-time, but try and be happy. So long as you try your hardest and do your best then you deserve to be happy with your efforts.

I think that's about it. If you have any other queries then just ask me. I am going to enter my final year of 6th form so I do know what I'm talking about.

Don't let a friend get between your school work, getting good grades is always important. If your friends are bad influences or maybe you have problems with them, I say go find some new friends. Sign up for some clubs (if you have those) and that is a way you can make new friends, and with people that could have the same interests as you.

Oh that's good then. It's always good to sign up for more than one club also. You could always try something different too.

Well since I'm just now going into gr.10 I actually had the same problem as you including the "friend situation"!

And i'm gonna be top-notch honest with you:

1. You most likely wont ever be friends again with your current ones.

2. It's not just your school starting gr9 at that highschool, there will be several different schools going into your one highschool so you'll meet entirely new people

3. Even the groups of friends right now most likely won't be the same groups of friends. Ex: Ashley, jenna and claire are a group. By the time grade 9 ends Ashley wont be friends with jenna, Claire will move away, Jenna will befriend 7 other girls.

4. Dont bring everything on your first day. A notebook, pencil and pen will do

5. Dont over dress, a simple white T-shirt, jeans and sneakers is literally perfect.

6. Smell good, well just hygiene in general. and dont over do it on the perfume. Nobody wants to make friends with someone who smells worse than garbage thats sweating everywhere with hair sticking up in different angles, but nobody wants to make friends with someone who looks like they're about to throw up dior perfume bottles either. 

7. Ask for directions if you don't know where to go. Go up to someone who looks normal and decent and looks like they have a content face on. There are actual people who might be having a bad day though.

8. Dont run to lunch

9. Dont scream (people will scream back)

10. If you're gonna be rude to other people and put them down get out

11. Skip if you really don't want to go to class (ex, headache, bad stomach, not in the mood for drama, etc etc). But dont do it everyday, try to limit yourself to 3 skips every semester, which in total is 6 skips every school year.

12. Dont bother trying to get a boyfriend in grade 9 for the heck of it, those relationships last a good month (on and off). But do it if you really like the guy, it'll be a good learning experience for how to handle future relationships

13. Literally nobody peer pressures you. people have better things to do with their lives

14. Do your homework. Just do it.

15. Aim for an A, so that way you'll try hard and get a B+ instead, see what I'm saying?

16. Don't send nudes to anyone. I dont care if it's a 2 year relationship boo. Unless you're engaged/married, your body is yours only. Dont share it with other people just because they asked.

17. If he wants to play 21 questions he's nothing but a (insertyouknowwhichwordiwannasayhere)

18. Have fun, dont be entirely yourself on the first day. But be truthful about what you like and not like. Slowly warm up to people just as they'll slowly warm up to you.

19. If you're in a sticky situation, I suggest you tell it to yourself outloud and what you're going to do to solve it. Things make more sense when you say it out loud, and it can stop you from doing something stupid

20. Sit back and relax, it's gonna be over pretty fast even if the days feel slow. The friends you make in grade 9 might not even be the same people in grade 11, so make the best memorie while you still have your chance. If you're sad then be sad, just not to the point where you start to hurt the ones around you. Cry if you feel like crying, just dont drown in your tears. Dance if you wanna dance, but remember that you gotta turn the music off sometimes. Life wont end until you die, and we'll never know when that'll be, so do whatever, just dont be an idiot about your decisions.

21. If Highschool doesn't go well for you

There's always college

Just incase the last 4 years wasn't well spent.

do NOT get mixed in the wrong crowd, or the next thing you know you're selling your favourite limited edition tripleX bicycle to pay back the guy who could kill you with his eyes.

-Grades.
-Don't stress over the little stuff.
-Extra-curriculars are awesome, just don't let them take over your life.
