Recommend me a book!

I was hoping you guys could help me by recommending a book for me to read. My reading list is getting progressively larger, but I still want to add a few more books to the list  

In terms of genres I'm interested in: Historical//factual maybe?// action// adventure - pretty much anything, actually.

Genres I'm not so keen on: Fantasy and sci-fi. {ANYTHING SIMILAR TO THE HUNGER GAMES, SORRY!}

Do you like sad, mysterious, action packed, adventure books? Because if you do, I recommend The Series of Unfortunate Events. These are middle school leveled but I don't understand half the words and I'm sure you'll like them anyway c:
