That is so cool. You know, I had fall break too, but I only had two days as well. I miss the elementary days. Full on weeks of no school... But it's not like we had anything important to do anyway. It's understandable, now. I really like your blog and I wish you luck in college. c:

OOOOOH, WE'RE HALFWAY THERE
OOOOOOH, LIVIN ON A PRAYER

Sorry couldn't help it. My friend tells me she sings that every night at her work when they're halfway through the night and everyone gets annoyed but she doesn't care. I have some really awesome friends.

So yeah, there's less than two months of the semester left and I'm super excited.

Right, so fall break was awesome, except it rained all weekend. And all the week before that. And for a few days after.

I didn't really do much, except go to random stores with my brother. And my mom made my mamaw's chili which is my favorite meal, and I went to my friend's house for a while to watch netflix and eat pizza and drink pumpkin spice tea which was really good.

I don't even remember most of this week to be honest. Hmm. Oh! I learned there is such thing as a sixth wheel, when your table at the church cookout consists of a couple and another couple and their good friend and they're all your friends but it isn't the same y'know? Awkward.

Right, so I'm gonna take a shower, get in my TARDIS pjs, and watch Netflix for the rest of the night.

Rock on beautiful people.

Wow it’s been a while.

Anyway, hey people! Hope your Halloween is awesome so far!! It’s just really cold and wet here so not that fun. However, my manager is dressed as Wolverine and the cashier guy at the Caf is Madea so there’s that.

Right so lots to catch up on.

Last week in MMS we had to do a movie presentation. In other words, our group was assigned a movie era and had to do a skit about it, and it had to be “educational.” It also said not to make it a joke.

Pfffft. It was totally a joke. It was somewhat educational though.

Alright so the era we got was “Movies of Today” so we decided to pretend we were shooting a superhero movie and used every cliché and weird thing we could think of. For example, the hero was named Wonder Puff and the villain was The Dali Trauma (courtesy of stupid name generators). Wonder Puff had the ability to shoot 3 cotton balls out of his hands once every three days. The educational side came from talking about green screens and technology and such which is what I’m majoring in so it was easy to talk about. I hung my green bed sheet on the wall to be a “green screen.” It was hysterical. The reason we turned it into a joke was because this only counted for extra credit on a test we all did pretty good on so we didn’t care about the grade.

And speaking of green screens, I finally got to play with one in my AVP class. It takes forever to get the lighting right though. I also have a skills production assignment due at the end of the month where I pretty much get to make a video of whatever I want. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna do a music video of the Cup song “When I’m Gone” from Pitch Perfect.

Overall this week has stunk to high heaven. I had to catch up on my math assignments, and just got done with a Macroeconomics test and a Math test back-to-back. Not to mention at work Tuesday night I slipped on a wet floor—twice—and hurt my back so now everything hurts and I’m so glad it’s Friday you don’t even know.

Happy Halloween beautiful people, and stay safe!

~11.11.2014~

I hate November.

"Oh, but Read!" you say. "November is Fall and bonfires and sweaters and Thanksgiving and all things fun!"

Uh huh. Well here, in my world, November is wet and cold and nasty. Not to mention it's the end of the semester so all the end of the year projects are due and massive tests are scheduled. And registration. Thanksgiving will be nice though. Mmmm real food!

My weekend consisted of work and church. Normally I just work the lunch shift on Saturdays but just my luck I had to fill in for someone that evening so I was there--standing up almost the whole time--for nine hours and that's not fun. And my register broke down. Church on Sundays is my refuge though.

Tomorrow is sophomore priority registration for spring classes. Basically, you talk with your advisor about classes you want/need to take, then you register the morning of and you're set. At least, that's how it's supposed to work.

If you're me, you decide to change your major two days before registration and are now freaking out. (Changed to Multimedia Production by the way. It's a lot like my old major, AV production, but has more graphic arts involved)

So this morning has found me in the library on my laptop trying to figure out what I can take and balancing times and getting the right number of credit hours for a new major. And basically having to ignore everything my advisor and I planned. And finding out that all the psychology classes are full so I have to find something else.

HOWEVER, my freaking out paid off. If I'm lucky and God decides to bless me, this is what my schedule will look like next semester:
The World of Higher Education~a blog by Read - Page 4 Spring10
YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH

That's 3 classes, plus an AV workshop that I do more or less on my own time. AND NO FRIDAY CLASSES. I knew it was possible but I never dreamed I'd ever be able to do it. *sniff* I'm so happy. Of course something could go very wrong tomorrow. And it probably will. Let me have my moment.

Tomorrow, I'll wake up at about 6:00 a.m. and head to the library, because the wired internet connection in my dorm doesn't work and the last thing you want to do is be on wifi during registration because it'll probably crash.

My eyes will be glued to the clock on the screen as I practice typing my CRNs (course registrations numbers) on a word document. Then, as soon as the time hits 7:00, I have to select Spring 2015 and type those four numbers in their little boxes as fast as I can and hit enter and hope to highest heavens that I got all the classes I need, cause there are limited spaces for each and I'm pretty much racing the other 1,100 people in my grade for those spots.

Stress-free, right?

Thankfully I'm not a freshman anymore. Seniors, honors, athletes and nursing majors all get first dibs on Monday. Then the juniors registered today, sophomore tomorrow, and freshmen on Thursday. So at least I'm not racing the entire school, just most of them.

...yeah. So fun.

Rock on beautiful people!

~11.12.2014~

Alright just a quick update.

So I got to the library half an hour early which was good cause the computers got filled up pretty quick. Despite an incident involving me trying to break into my own account, I got most of what I needed:

The World of Higher Education~a blog by Read - Page 4 Spring11

The web design class wouldn't let me in for some unknown reason so I had to replace it with the history class. I don't really mind, since I need another humanities course and I really like history but...a morning class? Messing up my perfect schedule. Meh.

But the important part was getting that French class. The accounting class had several spots left so I wasn't worried about it, but French was a whole different story. See, there are two sections of Elem. French I, one of which I'm taking now. Both are taught by the same adjunct professor who is the most amazing teacher ever. However, he's only teaching one of the Elem. French II classes. The other is taught by a different professor whom everyone says is not very easygoing or likeable. SO, you have nearly 45 people vying for Professor Awesome's class, which will hold 22. So that's why I'm so excited and thankful I got in.

As far as accounting goes, I don't think it'll be too bad *knock on wood*. Plus my mom took accounting classes in school and she loved it and is amazing at it so maybe she can help me some. I took History to 1500 last semester, so I'll be continuing it in the spring. I love history but the professor I had last year was seriously difficult. I don't have him for this one but that doesn't make me feel much better.

Ah, I also signed up for a summer online course to make up for the one credit I'm behind. It's my Fine Arts class and it's called, and I kid you not, "The Popular Music Experience". Note that there are tons of fine arts classes I'd rather take but this was the only one available online this summer. Will my homework be to listen to a Top 40 radio station for a few hours? I dunno but this should be interesting.

Rock on beautiful people.

~11.28.2014~

FINALLY

I'm finally home (well as of approximately 58 hours ago) for Thanksgiving and done with all those projects and tests the professors cram in before finals. Let's see, in the past week and a half:

-MMS paper draft
-Two weeks worth of math homework
-French presentation
-Math test
-Video Production test
-MMS final paper due
-French Quiz
-Video Production final assignment (a.k.a. "The Project from the Fiery Pit")

That last one has been nothing but trouble. Originally I wanted to do a music video montage style of people doing the choreography for the Cup Song in Pitch Perfect. However, I couldn't for the life of me find anyone who could do it and could meet up with me to film it. SOOOO, I changed my entire plan 3 days before it was due. Yay me.

I decided to instead do a mock tv spot called "Small Business Spotlight" where I interview "small business owners" because I didn't have time to think of anything else. I also decided I didn't care how corny and cheesy it was. The small business owner's name was Sally May, "from the country hill sides of Georgia. Yes. I said Georgia." and the business was called "Tape'd" and was basically a duct tape creation store. Because I can do duct tape. And I didn't have much time. I gave Alex (Sally May) a small script but she was amazing, taking it and running, adding the ridiculous exaggerated southern accent (Alex is from Southern California so that just made it even better) and...it was just spectacular. I'll try to get a copy from the class server so I can show you guys.

Then I started editing.

Found out my audio was only coming from the left speaker/headphone, which is an onsite problem and can't be fixed in post. Whoops. Then, the computer lost my files, I didn't know how to render the background music (which was from the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack hehe), and chroma keying is just a headache to deal with in general. I got it done and exported Tuesday afternoon and bolted cause my dad was waiting for me back at the dorm. So that happened.

Three hours and a Cracker Barrel stop later I finally got home after a month and a half of being at school. Which is a long time. I feel for the people who live really far away who can't come home as often.

Yesterday I had Thanksgiving dinner with just my immediate family (Saturday is extended family) and oh my gosh I missed real home cooked food so so much. Today, being Black Friday and since my brother begged me to take him since he can't drive yet, we're going to go shopping at a few places. I gave him some conditions:

-No shopping district of town. I'm not stupid.
-We go in the afternoon after most of the crazies have left.
-We go see Big Hero 6 afterward.

YAYYYYYYYYY

Sunday I have to go back to school for  finals, then nine days later I come home for the month long winter break. Not to mention I can freely listen to Christmas music without being judged because "it's not even Thanksgiving yet!"

Rock on beautiful people.

~12.5.2014~

OMG IT'S FINALLY DECEMBER

And on the morning of December 1st I walked outside to find it was 63 degrees. That's warm, people. Then of course four hours later it was 41 and raining.

Let's see, the best part of my week was getting to work concessions for the double basketball games Tuesday night. Even though I wasn't expecting it and had to go buy a new shirt which got popcorn butter all over it and I'm not sure it's gonna wash out. It was me and four other students running the stand and we listened to old music and talked about all the crud going on at school and it was amazing.

Then, we have the dreaded finals.

So I'm thinking, alright, round 3, I got this.

Right?

Thursday, I had my French and Video Production exams. The French one was like 10 pages long and I couldn't for the life of me remember the more polite way to say you would like something as opposed to you WANT something but overall I think I did ok. The video production test was 2 pages, fill in the blank. Took all of like 10 minutes. Also, I tried to save a copy of my final video project to my flash drive but when I got back to my room all I managed to get was the audio, so if I get a chance I'll go back and try to fix it.

Today was my MMS and math finals. The word I would use to describe them, I can't actually use here. It was bad, to say the least.

So now I get to spend 3 days "studying" (read: doing nothing productive) until Tuesday when I take my Macro exam and go home, if I can get a ride back that is.

Oh and while I was clearing up my flash drive I found my Bearville stuff from when I was in, like, middle school.

WHAT:

EVEN:

I REALLY LIKED MESSING WITH COLORS??:

I DON'T KNOW EITHER KALIA:

HEY THIS ONE IS ACTUALLY COOL I MIGHT TRY TO REDO IT SOMETIME:

*facepalms*

Rock on beautiful people.
